Set in its own tranquil little valley just a quarter mile off the Borrowdale Road, Troutdale Lodge provides traditional Lake District bed and breakfast hospitality in a truly delightful location with panoramic views.
From here it is a short walk to nearby hotels for evening/bar meals, and Keswick is about 4 miles away.
In this valley in 1885 a Mr Barnaby built the first ever trout hatchery in England. He exported trout eggs all over the world, as far as New Zealand. Remains of the hatchery can still be seen in the valley.
